Alexander Gafin, Editor-in-Chief of WATCH Russia became the Chairman of the Executive Committee of The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts Board of Trustees.
“The Pushkin Museum in Moscow with its magnificent collections and unique science expert team is rightfully part of the world museum elite. Its authority is a product of decades under the leadership of outstanding fine art historian Irina Antonova. Throughout its history the museum had numerous legendary exhibitions and unique projects that contributed to the convergence of countries, peoples, and cultures, while paving the way for politicians and diplomats. Working on the Board of Trustees of the museum is a great honor and responsibility. My main long-term objective in this new role is to make sure that the best opportunities are available for further development of the museum, strengthening its position in the museum community and the cultural heritage of the world,” said Alexander Gafin upon his appointment.
The Board is a collegial body of The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts formed to support and develop the museum. It includes such well-known figures of Russian culture and business as Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky, long-time head of The Pushkin Museum Irina Antonova, the current Director of the Museum Marina Loshak, General Manager of Channel One Konstantin Ernst, co-founder of the Mikhail Prokhorov Foundation Irina Prokhorova, heads of Novatek, Rostelecom, Gazprombank, and Vnesheconombank.
